![]() I watched the recently released DVD a few weeks ago and that opening sequence thar precedes Zoo Station still gives me goose bumps even after nearly 15 years. You can never explain to people what it was like, you either saw it or you didn't. I saw on it on the Wednesday and was blown away and went back a week later and it had the same effect again. The fact that a very strong album was its foundation really helped, but this was one of those Rock n Roll moments when everything just came together. I've seen them all, Springsteen, Queen, The Stones, Prince, Dire Straits and more, but never have i experienced, before or since a visual and musical assault on the senses like ZOO TV. When I saw them 4 years later on the POP MART Tour, she had died 3 days earlier and they dedicated One to her. That night Bono dressed up as Mr Mephisto and tried phoning Princess Diana. The fans were totally bemused by the whole thing and wanted the band to get on with the music, which fortunately they returned to with the last 3 or 4 excellent albums.įirst gig I ever went to was U2 at Wembley Zooropa Tour 1993 aged just 14!It's about as close to spiritual music can probably ever get. ![]() The political element was totally overblown with poorly thought out, executed and scripted link up ups with Sarajevo. Much more representative would have been the Rattle and Hum or the more recent Vertigo tour. The Zooropa Tour, whilst spectacular was musically experimental at best. Rattle and Hum (+ the excellent movie) are 2 of U2 finest moments. The Zoo tour (Celtic Park, Glasgow) is one of many times I have seen the band live and is easily the most disappointing (poor sound quality and poorer album). ![]() I Have to disagree strongly with your intro on this page.
